Digital signature

Digital signatures online — nothing to install

Add a document, invite the signers and watch the signatures arrive. 1DOX runs in the browser and on the phone, and signers do not need an account.

Legally equal to a handwritten signature in every EU country (eIDAS QES).

A qualified digital signature the other party can give without an account.

What is a digital signature?

A digital signature is an electronic signature given with an electronic identity — in the Baltics Smart-ID, Mobile-ID or a national ID card. A signature given in 1DOX is a qualified electronic signature (QES) under the eIDAS regulation.

A qualified signature has the same legal effect as a handwritten one in every EU member state. The signed document carries the signer's name, personal code and the exact time of signing.

Signers need no account

The other party does not register or install anything. They open the link on a phone or computer and sign with their national eID — besides the Baltic Smart-ID, Mobile-ID and ID cards, for example Finnish, Swedish and Danish bank IDs, ID Austria or itsme — or with an international remote QES when they have no local eID.

Frequently asked questions

Is a digital signature legally binding?
Yes. A signature given in 1DOX is a qualified electronic signature (QES), equal to a handwritten signature across the EU under eIDAS.
What can I sign with?
In the Baltics with Smart-ID, Mobile-ID and ID cards. Beyond that with many European countries' own eIDs and with international remote QES services (for example ADACOM) that work for signers with no local eID.
Do I need DigiDoc4 software?
No. Smart-ID and Mobile-ID work in the browser with nothing to install. Signing with an ID card needs a card reader and the ID software browser extension.
